  1. 1. Combine dry ingredients, mix well 2. Add milk, water, vanilla, egg and melted butter 3. Mix well to create a smooth batter 4. Add a small amount of cooking oil to a skillet or pan (I use a cast iron skillet) 5. When the oil is hot add batter, about 1/3 cup makes a nice size hoe cake 6. Flip when the batter begins to bubble 7. Best when served hot with butter
